Over one billion birds die from window collisions every year in the United States. Nearly half happen at residential homes. Bird Safe Windows Network is building a nationwide community of trained installers to change that, for free.
Bird Safe Windows Network operates through local nodes: community programs staffed by trained conservation interns. Every assessment and installation is free to the homeowner, backed by rigorous data collection.
Homeowners in node communities sign up for a free site assessment. A trained Bird Safe Windows intern schedules a visit at your convenience.
Our intern identifies your highest-risk windows based on orientation, reflectivity, and habitat, and recommends the right treatment for each window.
We install commercial grade bird-safe window film or Acopian BirdSaver cord curtains on your three highest-risk windows, up to 50 sq. ft., at no cost to you. Acopian curtains and installation are always free for additional windows.
We already have solutions that are backed by science, and we know they work. The challenge is not inventing new technology. The challenge is getting these proven solutions onto every window where birds are at risk. That is exactly why we built this scalable network.Punita Koustubhan, Founder & Executive Director, Bird Safe Windows Network
